There is no doubt that all audiences of any actor or actress are crazy by
him (her) in stand idea that when the actress transform from a stage to
another is the toughest part in their life. Especially if this celebrity
very famous. If they loved you as a child, they don’t want you to grow up,
and if you grew up, they may walk away from you. When the golden child
Fairouz grew up and became young women, she was not acceptable by all
audiences as she was before. If people loved you as young actors, Ahmed
Ramzy and Hassan Yourself, they wouldn’t want to see you as grandfather. In
essence the early success they make in their life is only a big disaster
for some of those actresses and sometimes it become as death certificate.

The rule has one exception, in two words, it was FATEN HAMAMA, she was very
smart, so innocent. She has acted with Mr. Mohamed Abdelwahab in movie,
Youm Saeed, she was a better actress than him. I still remember her saying
how good the desert was when she went upstairs inviting him to dinner. Then
we all fall in her love at once, she was very specific for us and for every
one another. We only remember her name and Abdelwahab, we don’t talk about
the other lead actress in the movie, Sameha Samih.

And now the child grown to be girl live in a palace in the movie “bullet in
heart “ as a sister of the main star of film, Rakia Ibrahim, she doesn’t
have a long role in the movie, she ran behind her dog and on the stairs, a
young girl that attracts you. Her voice starts to get in shape. Yes her
voice that started to grow with her, it’s not a steady voice, very soft,
makes you want to protect it. Her voice comes directly from her heart.
Faten Hamama won until this moment; she only fell in love with the desert
plate and the dog in both movies. So, how do you think her audiences will
accept her next step when she fell in love with another man? Her next
acting stage was in the melodrama pictures, as in I’m well born, the two
orphans, she has become in the heart of everyone after that. In the movie,
the two orphans, she was blind and her voice was the secret entrance to the
heart to all audiences, especially when she has to deal with these strong
and bad women in the movie, Negma Ibrahim. And her criminal son. No one
take care of her but this other person who sale newspaper, and the
audiences of course.

Faten Hamama becomes the only dream girl that all women try to imitate her
way of talking, and how she gets shy and her face, not only her face is
innocent, but it’s a unique face for any photographer, same as her voice,
listen to her when she sings “ Alo Alo Ehna Hena”. You will notice how
lovable, charming, and simple she was when she performed in this song “Alo
Alo with Shadia”, she was crossing a look with Shadia as she was saying I’m
not a singer, believe me, they told me to sing in the movie, but that’s not
what I do in my real life. What Faten didn’t know was we continued to say,
sing Faten, sing more; we love all your performances, even if you would
make songs on tapes.

Another incident I remember about this very unique girl that shows how
charming and innocent she was, in the movie Lahn Elkholud, aka Immortal
song. In this movie, singer Farid Elatrach was singing Gamil Gamal,
pointing out to Faten in her birthday in the movie. Faten’s role was Waffa
who fill in love with Farid, but she didn’t tell him about her feelings.
Every time he looks at her in this song, she looks down and her face gets
red, yes I have seen the redness on her face even though the movie is black
and white. Farid then sings, “why the world is beautiful and lovely while
you are with me”. She reply back softly, ‘when you are with me”

When Seraj Munir (her uncle) asks her to dance, she refused to dance, then
her sister Magda pushes her to dance and Farid pushes her to dance, she
continued to refuse, with a complete embracing feeling she has. We loved
her when she didn’t dance and that’s how we felt with all her feelings. She
almost gave us all what Samia Gamal and Taheia Karioka in their best
dancing performance, and she became a legend. Any thing she does in the
movie, you always love, no matter what it is, she was above the story or
the scripts, she always knew how she controls the heart of her viewers.

This also reminds me with some other scenes that prevails how much we could
be attract to her now matter what she does. In the movie Nahe Elhob (the
River of Love), she was a married woman and fell in love with another man,
yet we could only see how tirrable her husband was aside from her
behaviors. If this movie was for another actress than Faten, she was going
to be faced with lots of criticism on doing this role. You could see this
more than once, in Bain Elatlal (Among the Ruins) and in Immortal Song and
Good bye my love, even in the movie I want Solution, there was always
someone who loves her when she was married. It’s almost like during the
making of any movie, the director says, do whatever Faten desires, because
that’s what the audiences will desire.
Taking a look at her biggest movie where she was doing an evil act in the
movie, Laanam (Sleepless), believe me I felt sorry for this young girl and
I couldn’t hate her, regardless of all the evil acts she has done with
everyone in the movie, we always try to find reasons and excuses and
sometimes give her a chance for switching her behavior in the movie. In
this movie, the audiences said, it’s because she didn’t have a mother, some
other said she may regret her behaviors, and other said she is only acting;
it’s the director’s fault. Before the end of the movie, we all agreed to
hate the Role for Hind Rustom and when the last séance of the movie when
Faten got burned, we almost died in our chairs and we forgot the movie and
everything, we wanted to make sure she was doing OK.

On more time we see that life is repeating itself, her is Aneesa the child
in Youm Said grow up and become the mother in the movie, Embratoriat M
(Empire M), she is now a grown up women, knowledgeable, gives her kids a
chance to grow up with a democratic vision in the house, then when they do
the election at the end of the movie, we all wished for her to win the
voting results, her kids can’t find better than her, and of course she wins
the results, and her voice still the secret cods for our hearts, even when
she yell at her kids.

Last, I don’t like this term “ the Beautiful Time” where it’s one of the
stereotypes for talking about the black and white era, because Faten Hamama
still with us and with her continuous support and continuous performance
that didn’t stop to date, we will always be waiting for her new pictures
(Face of the Moon), yes her face is shining with a special Charisma that
was never repeated, she still looking for best work for her, even by
looking once, twice and ten times reading different stories until she finds
that one that reaches her heart. All millions in our country are waiting to
see more of her.

Who said that our time is not beautiful? Enough pride, beauty, and charms
that it has Faten Hamama.
